Glad he is not around to see the leadership we have today
Glad he is not around to see the leadership we have today

Eugene Mitchell was a high school history teacher in Angleton, Texas for many years. He was a barber on Saturdays and a devout member of the Church of Christ on Sundays. He graduated from Abilene Christian College but he always rooted for the Texas A&M Aggies. I remember clearly the day over 65 years ago when he wrote this on the chalkboard: "In war, truth is the first casualty". As I have watched wars come and go over my lifetime, I have come to realize that Mr. Mitchell was right. The United States is at war today, with itself....and it is very difficult to discern the truth. Meaningful debate and dialog no longer exist. Both left and right are guilty to some extent. Neither hold the high ground. Truth was the first casualty. There will be more.
