Why Trump and Musk Would Welcome a Government Shutdown

I don't know all the reasons, but I suspect this one is true. Every time the federal government goes into shutdown (skeleton crew) mode, the "essential" personnel are required to work even though they aren't being paid. The "non-essential" personnel are sent home. Inevitably, some numbskull will start pointing and yelling something like, "See! See! The government has all these non-essential people, so why don't they fire them all?" "Non-essential" while in crisis mode does not mean an employee is not needed in the day-to-day setting. Mark my words, if the government shuts down, Trump or Musk or both will say something like this.
